Under the expert guidance of Prof. Zavos, our team has developed a pioneering technique called Round Spermatid Injection (ROSI). This innovative method involves injecting immature sperm cells, known as round spermatids, directly into a woman’s egg. ROSI resembles Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), but instead of mature sperm, it uses these less developed cells.
The first use of ROSI began in the 1990s. Initially, it led to several successful pregnancies, including a notable case in the UK: the birth of Susan Louise Oxburgh in 1996. Despite these early successes, ROSI faced significant hurdles. The UK’s Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority (HFEA) banned the technique due to concerns about potential genetic abnormalities in immature sperm and the method’s low success rates.
However, we didn’t let these challenges deter us. Our team has worked diligently to improve the ROSI technique. Today, we have refined our approach to make it more efficient and effective. We have addressed the concerns that led to the technique’s initial ban. As a result, our updated ROSI method now boasts higher success rates and produces healthier outcomes.
